Xerox VP, Application Development and Delivery in Rochester, New York

This senior leadership role is accountable for the development and delivery of IT solutions across a broad range of technologies. These IT solutions support the Go To Market and Transformation needs of Xerox and span all organizations and geographies and as such are critical to achieving the near and long terms objectives of Xerox.

The individual in this role will be measured on the quality, speed and cost effectiveness of he solutions being designed. Further, the role must demonstrate continuous YOY improvement against all of these measures. Additionally, the individual in this role must maintain and keep current the development and implementations skills of the IT organization, the software development lifecycle practices and the relevant tools for development and testing.

This role would be directly accountable for the majority of spend associated with a substantial ($100M) portfolio of initiatives and change requests.

This role would be directly accountable for the majority of spend associated with a substantial ($100M) portfolio of initiatives and change requests.

• Is accountable for the technical development, implementation, testing and delivery for the majority of IT applications and solutions (packaged and internally developed) produced for Xerox. The direct total budget is approximately $70M but has cost accountability approaching $100M. The budget is a composed of internal labor, multiple third party contracts and software contracts.

• Responsible for a large highly technical team of over application engineers, developers and quality assurance/testing resources. The organization has more than 400 internal employees residing in multiple geographies with the majority in India, UK and US.

• This role is required to achieve outstanding quality, delivery performance (speed), and costs to achieve for all technical projects/development activities.

• Successful outcomes are achieved through the development and maintenance of a modern application delivery capability composed of a skilled technical workforce, an appropriate set of implementation processes managed within a well-defined Solution Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) framework and appropriate development tools and methodologies.

• The role must have broad and deep technical expertise in packaged software and cloud based software services inclusive of heritage and modern cloud ERPs such as SAP, Oracle EBS, SalesForce,

• The role develops and maintains the strategy for technical implementation and software service development for the corporation. This includes the development and maintenance of technical skills within the organization, the partnership and sourcing strategy for use of external skills/partnership and the establishment of modern approaches to technical delivery. Success depends on their significant experience with traditional development methodologies/languages (C , Java, Ruby, C# etc.), cloud based approaches to delivery (container based, software defined compute, native Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure. Etc.).

• The nature of this role is to address and satisfy continuously evolving business needs often by using new and emerging technologies and approaches. As such a core competency of this role is problem solving. This may occur in the context of technical opportunities/issues, management of complex vendor/delivery partner relationships, cost/budget challenges and/or people/skill deficits/needs.

• Defines new approaches, techniques and/or technologies to improve overall delivery quality, functionality, speed and cost. Must be a thought leader in the area of software/service/technology development and delivery.

• Works with industry peers to learn and leverage best practices in support of the above.

• Monitors, manages and reduces risk associated with the health of the various technical programs/project and change requests be delivered by the organization

• Balances breadth of awareness of the performance of the delivery teams and organizations with an ability to “dive deep” and address and correct issues that are preventing delivery of successful business outcomes.

• Failure to meet objectives will result in unnecessary or excessive spend to achieve critical business outcomes, delays to significant hard and soft business benefits and in the extreme case could result in the failure of the corporation to achieve its strategic goals

• Broad technical knowledge spanning the many platforms (Oracle, SAP, SalesForce.com Microsoft, and others) used within the Xerox Application Portfolio.

• Demonstrated expertise with a variety of development frameworks (agile, traditional waterfall etc.)

• Demonstrated expertise working with modern cloud technologies and approaches including Software as Service solutions as well as bespoke solutions developed within cloud platform/infrastructure as a service environments.

• Demonstrated expertise developing and managing modern integration methodologies and tools in particular via API frameworks and tools.

• Experience with modern user experience inclusive of mobile/social approaches.

• Demonstrated ability to quickly compose, test and deliver new business capability through agile methods inclusive of DevOPs techniques.

• Uses a fact based metric driven approach to managing delivery comparable to best in class development organizations

• Must maintain manage and communicate the approach to SDLC across the IT organization and as required with the business.

• Extensive interactions with all other senior IT leaders including the BE/COE organizations, Program/project management, Architecture, Infrastructure and Information Security

• Frequent interactions with the senior leadership of the company to provide guidance and status on technical initiatives.

• Continuous interactions with vendors and third party delivery partners in the context of program/project success, cost management, performance management etc.

• Work with the BRMs, BSAs, projects teams etc. teams to implement new or changed functionality to meet business needs/achieve business outcomes

• Partners with Business Engagement teams enabling value back to business

• Partner with IT Strategy and Architecture organization to ensure alignment to Enterprise Architecture strategies and overall IT Strategies

• Platform governance across disciplines to ensure collaboration

• Adherence to technical standards (no customization to COTS)

• Set development standards, introduce new technical capabilities

• Continuous improvement of SDLC methodologies

• Participate in Product and Technology Strategy Council with Major Suppliers/Partners

• Keeps abreast of changing technology landscape, development methods, tools and frameworks.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Master's Degree

Preferred: ITIL Certified

Required: Agile and scrum methodology, lean six sigma
