Safety Engineer

Position Summary: Provide comprehensive safety, health, and environmental support to a wide variety of operations. The Safety Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, supervising, and coordinating programs, processes, and policies to prevent injuries, protect the health of employees, minimize environmental impact of operations, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategy and sustainable programs to promote workplace safety and health, environmental leadership, and regulatory compliance. Audit implementation of programs and strategy.

  • Identify hazards and analyze risks associated with new and existing facilities and operations. Define measures necessary to mitigate unacceptable risks. Partner with other organizations including real estate, corporate security, HR, site operations management, and others to develop and implement control measures.

  • Review real estate transactions including purchases, leases, renewals, and build outs for life and fire safety compliance.

  • Investigate safety and environmental incidents, determine contributing factors, and communicate findings and corrective actions.

  • Investigate and resolve employee safety concerns.

  • Review governmental regulations and industry codes of practice for applicability to company processes, facilities, and equipment. Identify and communicate actions required for regulatory compliance. Work closely with employees and appropriate levels of management to develop and implement compliance strategies.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field, preferably in Occupational Safety/Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering.

  • CSP and/or CIH certification.

  • 6 years of direct EH&S experience supporting global operations.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate effectively and establish credibility with employees and management.

  • Thorough understanding of OSHA compliance and applicable codes/standards, e.g. NFPA 101, NFPA 70e

  • Working knowledge of EPA regulations.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
