Xerox VP, IT Solution Acceleration in Norwalk, Connecticut

The Vice President of Solution Acceleration is responsible for leading agile design efforts for IT solutions in support of emergent business needs as well as assessments in support of achieving IT organizational objectives. Examples might be generating viable options for the replacement of on premise ERP capabilities or providing insight into modern digital and cloud based technologies The role leads a direct multifunctional team and multiple teams of IT resources assigned on a rotational basis as required to develop options that meet the needs of emerging initiatives.

This role works with the CIO, the head of IT Strategy and Architecture and the heads of Business Engagement and IT Business Centers of Excellence to scope and prioritize the initiatives to be worked and to understand the business strategy and requirements under pinning the evaluations and determine a path forward to address the business need.

3-5 direct headcount but manages as required multiple assigned teams of senior BSAs, architects, engineers 20 indirect HC via matrix

Accountable for decisions that will affect small to very large initiatives, locally and globally

Interfaces at senior most level of IT organization and as required with senior leaders outside of IT. Leads by influence

  • The individual who takes this role will need to establish the Solution Acceleration function within the IT organization.

  • The Solution Acceleration function by providing rapid, cost effective, technology assessments and alternatives is critical to the achievement of both IT and business outcomes.

  • Successfully addressing the business or IT need the individual in this role will need to very quickly define and solidify problem statements and business requirements that will often be ambiguous at the time of the request.

  • The core objective of this role is to provide novel, agile and cost effective technical solutions to meet business need. To be successful the individual in this role will need to continuously challenge the status quo and bring new process and approach to IT problem solving.

  • Effective evaluation of solutions will require input from business partners, IT peers, third party partners and others

  • Acceleration of solution design will directly impact the speed with which business opportunities (revenue, profit) can be realized and challenges can be resolved, the cost for deploying new IT solutions and ultimately will reduce the underlying cost/complexity of the existing technology footprint.

  • Broad understanding of current technology landscape within the marketplace including infrastructure, security, cloud, application development this manifests as an ability to rapidly identify technologies with the highest probability of meeting the business need.

  • Works across IT leadership team to gather demand and requirements, uses professional judgment to scope and prioritize the work.

  • Applies agile techniques and approach to rapidly develop technical solutions/alternatives that address emergent business need.

  • Collaborative communications with senior peers with IT and engagement as required with IT value chain partners

  • Ability to educate and influence largely matrixed staff to achieve overall outcomes. Ability to make strong recommendations regarding solutions and influence selection approach with most senior leaders in Xerox.

  • Ability to balance priorities and negotiate how to best address demand across multiple parties including senior leaders.

Oversight of Solution Selection initiative execution

  • Using agile methodologies and mindset teams address critical questions regarding technology direction through short, intense exercises/assessments (tiger team approach) to generate options that will be agreed by senior leadership.

  • These exercises may take the form of vendor assessments, rapid prototyping/application development, infrastructure, cloud or other technical proofs-of-concepts.

  • The assessments will always include a financial component (economic case or business case) and a report out to senior manager and the initiator of the request.

  • Works with external vendors and third parties, CIO, VPs of IT architecture, Application Development and Business engagement, works with VP level business representatives, Works with/directs staff assigned to individual initiatives

  • Initiative scoping, prioritization and launch

  • Maintains list of demand from Business Engagement/COE leads, Strategy and Architecture, CIO and others.

  • Works with IT leadership, in particular VP AD&S and VP Stat. and Architecture to prioritize and resource the initiatives.

  • Works, CIO, VPs of IT architecture, Application Development and Business engagement, works with VP level business representatives


Bachelors Required / Masters Preferred: Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent

Experience leading Technology transformation initiatives, broad understanding of the modern technical landscape and market offerings, specific experience with key cloud technologies and providers including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure. Experience working in environments with large ERP deployments. Proven ability to quickly on board requirements
