Job Role Summary

Responsible for managing the planning, design, implementation, operation, fault finding and maintenance of enterprise IT infrastructure and/or data centre services with specific skills and experience in Network Engineering and Network Administration Responsibilities will include

  • Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement/monitoring methods. Supports internal and third party audits and penetration tests.

  • Prepares the analysis of the capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling

  • Conducts and documents network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Creates support documentation

  • All other duties as assigned

Professional Certifications:

  • Accredited institution certifications in firewall (e.g. checkpoint) and routing and switching technologies (E.g. Cisco)

  • Candidate will be required to pass a security clearance screening to SC level.

  • UK Driver’s License to enable occasional travel to supporting locations

Candidate Background: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Expertise in installing and supporting computer hardware (servers, storage, PCs, laptops,) and operating systems

  • The ability to analyze issues and to find resolution to problems by using a rational, systematic approach

  • Strong communication and customer relations skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team oriented environment

  • Familiar with network patching and cabling best practices

  • Experience in supporting virtualized computing environments.

  • Experienced in performing and enabling both local and remote technical support.

  • Experienced in the implementation of VLANS

  • Solid understanding of data encryption, data integrity, data security, Intrusion detection, intrusion prevention and the associated implications/requirements for the design and operation of secure data networks and systems.

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP

  • Experience installing, configuring and supporting Checkpoint, CISCO , Forti-net and Dell network components

  • Understanding of VPN, DHCP, DNS, FTP, SFTP, Telnet, HTTP, HTTPS, SMB, Ping, Traceroute, Syslog, NTP

  • Understanding of HSRP, BGP, OSPF.

  • Familiar with TCPDump and/or WireShark would be beneficial

  • Familiar with vulnerability scanning techniques (preferably Nessus)

  • Experience in Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems.

  • Experienced in console scripting
