Position Description – Sr. Web API Developer

Role O verview:

The Senior Web API developer, in our application middleware development team specializing in Web API development within AWS cloud using No SQL databases will play key role in enhancing our cloud based application development capabilities. This role requires a broad range of skills and the ability to step in to different roles depending on the size and scope of the project; its primary day-to-day responsibility is to design, implement and maintain web applications, RESTful APIs using AWS cloud products to support creation of web sites, reports and real time interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, developing and optimizing APIs using Java, Node.js and direct ODBC connections to meet Marklogic data integration objectives.

  • Designing, developing and maintaining RESTful APIs using Java to manage data in Marklogic database.

  • Creating and maintaining documentation that describes the APIs.

  • Proactively identifying problems/issues concerning data accuracy, data integrity and relevance.

  • Providing ongoing API maintenance support through Marklogic database tuning and other optimization mechanism.

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of NO SQL database theory, principles and best practices.

  • Proficient in SQL and Non SQL database modeling (Marklogic, DB2 and SQL Server).

  • Highly proficient in script development using Java, Node.js, Angular JS, XQuery and XSLT.

  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, web application architecture, agile development methodologies and best practices.

  • Strong ability to analyze data and identify data quality issues.

  • Verifiable experience/familiarity with Java and Node.js coding.

  • Demonstrated experience with Cloud-based No SQL (Marklogic or MongoDB).

  • At least 4 years of API development using Java with handling JSON, XML, RDF, geospatial data, text, and large binaries.

Preferences:

  • Understanding and familiarity with Hadoop.

  • Understanding and familiarity with how HDFS works.

  • Understanding and familiarity with how MapReduce works.
