POSITION DESCRIPTION: Software Tester

The Software Tester works under the direction of the System Test Manager and System Test Lead to:

Perform system integration, regression testing, end-to-end data validation/verification testing of new enhancements and modifications to existing systems.

Adhere to all established processes and procedures for system tests.

Communicate well with both internal and external customers.

Use established procedures to document instructions for conducting testing.

Communicate issues identified during testing.

Provide support for Requirements teams, specifically in the definition of use cases.

Validate and verify that the system is operating in accordance with system requirements

and design specifications.

Write test plans, test cases and test scripts. Maintain records of test progress.

Document test results, prepare incident reports and present results, as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering in any field

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong command of the English language

  • Experience with the following:

Manual testing within a complex large scale enterprise environment

Creating and executing Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test Scripts

Rational Suite of tools (RQM, RTC and Req Pro) and documenting Test results

Testing the content and accuracy of reports based on client requirements

Agile methodolgy

Testing in a high-volume data movement environment

Developing and documenting test processes and procedures

.net, JAVA, Angular JS No SQL

Writing and running SQL queries as part of testing

Mark Logic/SQL relational database structures and query techniques

Data mapping and validation from source system to target system

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong time management, priority allocation and task management skills

  • Strong presentation skills to present test results to individuals and groups

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Drive to work through issues, seek team support and escalate issues, as appropriate

  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment to meet project needs

  • High customer service orientation with proven ability to work with business customers as well as other team members

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during test weeks

Desired:

  • Experience testing system modifications and enhancements for large-scale human services systems in a state government environment (for a period of twelve or more consecutive months within the past five years)

  • Experience writing and modifying Use Cases

  • Ability to aggressively pursue new solutions and ideas for meeting testing goals

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members

  • Experience in gathering and developing requirements for large complex Enterprise systems

  • Experience with Rational Unified Process (RUP)

  • Experience performing requirements traceability
