Primary Duties and Responsibilities
May perform one or more of the following:Oversees the daily activities of the utilization review department
Oversees the condition management program, which includes educating members on self-management of a chronic condition in order to facilitate the best health possible
Monitors phone reports for abandonment, volume and voice mail activity to determine required staffing adjustments as needed.
Uses established medical criteria to certify services, based on information obtained from the attending physician and/or other providers.
Refers cases to Medical Director if they do not meet established medical criteria.
Manages and follows cases to completion/patient discharge.
Regularly interacts with claims administration personnel to exchange certification information
Identifies potential cost savings within a health plan's coverage.
Acts upon cost savings in instances when services are not sacrificed by doing so.
Acts as primary contact with designated employers, patients, and providers for ongoing care management program operations.
Participates in quality improvement strategies by assessing individual and employer satisfaction of programs.
Obtains/maintains knowledge of Federal, State, and Local funding and community resources available to patients and their families.
Collaborates with departments to promote coordination and communication within the Department regarding integration of administrative activities, quality improvement, and clinical operations.
Conducts research and assists Health Care Services staff in developing new Company policies and programs.
Assists in evaluating and refining current existing policies and programs.
