Title: Research Scientist: Cloud Services
Location: India-Karnataka-Bangalore
The Xerox Research Centre India is seeking researchers with technical expertise in the domain of Cloud Services to participate in exciting research and technology development projects. The focus of these projects will be on designing and developing novel systems and solutions for optimal delivery of document/business process services leveraging the latest technologies and paradigms in cloud computing. Applicants should have a strong background in the areas of distributed systems and business processes while being interested in developing innovative solutions for real-world business problems.
The ideal candidate will participate in cutting edge research and will apply his/her technical competence in the design and implementation of next-generation, SOA-based enterprise solutions in support of creative scientific projects of significant business impact. While being an independent contributor, s/he will collaborate effectively with top scientists from across Xerox’s global research labs, as well as with business and development teams.

The Xerox Research Centre India is a young and growing research organization. Inaugurated in March 2010 the centre’s mission is to capture innovation opportunities for Xerox in the emerging markets and to advance Xerox’s position as the leading global provider of document and business process services by leveraging the rich talent and technical expertise in India. This centre joins an elite group of four world renowned research labs in the United States, Canada, and Europe that together form the Xerox Innovation Group. Researchers at our centre work on cutting-edge technologies including cloud computing, human computation and business analytics while leveraging Xerox’s established expertise in imaging, document management and ethnography to address locally relevant and globally challenging problems. They collaborate closely with their peers in the Xerox labs in the US and Europe, and co-innovate with experts from leading academic institutions, research labs and partner organizations in India.
We are currently looking for recent graduates as well as experienced practitioners with:
• MS/PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related disciplines with strong motivation and ability to perform in a high-class research environment;
• Expertise in one or more areas related to large-scale information management, clustered computing, workflow technologies, Web services and Web 2.0 applications, cloud computing, and/or large-scale software development;
• Significant experience in systems development; transforming technologies into a product is a plus.
• Fluent with software development language and tools; programming languages such as Java, C/C ; scripting language such as Perl, UNIX shell, python; tools such as Eclipse and CVS; web services or service-oriented architecture development and integration such as J2EE, SOAP, WSDL, or XML; user interface design; knowledge of database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL);
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
