Review and research assigned claims by navigating multiple computer systems and accurately capturing the data/information necessary for processing
Ensure that the proper benefits are applied to each claim by using the appropriate processes and procedures (e.g. claims processing policies and procedures, state mandates, CMS/Medicare guidelines, benefit plan documents)
Meet the performance goals established for the position in the areas of: efficiency, accuracy, quality and attendance
Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
High School diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience in medical billing and claim submission (preferred)
Basic comfort level with Internet and MS Office environments (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9/10-CM codes and medical billing or coding (preferred)
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing claims
Ability to remain focused and productive each day though tasks may be repetitive
Ability to problem-solve and identify trends and patterns leading to denials
Ability to manage multiple assignments and balance workload independently
Must be a dependable team-player with a positive attitude
